Crocheted basket…

I never have enough boxes to store all my stuff! This is the reason why my jewelry always ends up into old and smelly shoe boxes, or why I usually threw my make-up into those mysterious drawers that make it magically disappear. Well, this time I decided my new beauty products and perfumes deserved better and I thought about a crocheted basket as the perfect way to keep them all in order and in a nice looking place.

1To make my basket I have used a light pink ball of Zpagetti yarn. It was my first time with this kind of yarn and I felt absolutely enthusiastic about it. Even if it needed a large hook size, crocheting fabric wasn’t hard at all. Since the fabric is very soft and chunky, the work went up really fast and I was able to finish my project in a couple of hours.2

3Here below is the pattern I made up for this project. It is meant for a medium size basket, but you can customize it making it bigger or smaller by simply adding or reducing the initial number of stitches.

What you’ll need:

  • a ball of Zpagetti yarn in the color you prefer
  • 8 mm crochet hook
  • yarn needle
  • scissors

PATTERN

Into a magic loop make 6 sc

row1: ch1 (it counts as the first sc), 1 sc into the same st. 2 sc in each st around. At the end of the row sl st into the first ch. (12 st)

row2: ch1 (it counts as the first sc), 2sc into the next st.* 1 sc into the very next st, 2 sc in the next ones*. Repeat from *to* until the end of the row then sl st into the first sc. (18 st)

row3: ch1 (it counts as the first sc), 1 sc into the next st, 2 sc into the next one.* 1 sc in the next two stitches, 2 sc into the next one*. Repeat from *to* until the end of the row then sl st into the first ch. (24st)

row4: ch1 (it counts as the first sc), 1 sc into the next two st, 2 sc into the next one.* 1 sc in the next three stitches, 2 sc into the next one*. Repeat from *to* until the end of the row then sl st into the first ch. (30st)

row5: ch1 (it counts as the first sc), 1 sc into the next three st, 2 sc into the next one.* 1 sc in the next four stitches, 2 sc into the next one*. Repeat from *to* until the end of the row then sl st into the first ch. (36st)

row6: ch1 (it counts as the first sc), 1 sc into the next four st, 2 sc into the next one.* 1 sc in the next five stitches, 2 sc into the next one*. Repeat from *to* until the end of the row then sl st into the first ch. (42st)

row7: ch1 (it counts as the first sc), 1 sc into the next five st, 2 sc into the next one.* 1 sc in the next six stitches, 2 sc into the next one*. Repeat from *to* until the end of the row then sl st into the first ch. (48st)

row8-16: ch1 (it counts as the first sc), 1 sc in each st around. Sl st into the next st at the end of the row. (42 st)

row17 : ch2 (it counts as the first dc), *ch1, skip the very next st and dc into the next one*. Repeat from *to* until the end of the row then sl st into the second ch. (42 st)

I also added a romantic touch weaving a lace ribbon through the double crochet stitches of row 17 and tying a bow at the center of the basket. I absolutely love how delicate it looks! To make my basket look more like a nest I finally made an edging row of crab stitches all the way around.

5I hope you guys like this pattern. I can think about so many ways you can use these baskets. You can keep your ‘treasures’ inside them or you can fill them with soaps, scented candles, skin care products and make it the perfect gift for a friend !! Have fun with Zpagetti and let me know your impressions and what’s your favorite crochet project to do using this yarn. I love you all and see you to the next post..byeee!!!! XX
