Stool makeover

I have been thinking to give this old stool a new life for a while.

I found it in the rental apartment I am living right now. It was in the bathroom used as soap and bath products holder. But I saw a great potential in it and with a nice covering piece, I transformed it in a comfy stool for my living room space.

This idea was actually born because of me and Valerio fighting for the chair we usually use as stool, everytime we are on the sofa watching a movie. He is always so reluctant to share his raising legs pleasure that I created one mine personal !!

To make this stool cover, I used two balls of T-shirt yarn, in a bright white color and my 12 mm crochet hook.

The pattern I made up is very simple. It is worked in round, increasing the stitches until it is needed to cover the stool circumference and then, working few rounds with no increases for the edgind.

To begin, just make 6 sc into a magic loop

round 1 : ch2, 2 sc into eact stitch below (12 sts)

round 2 : ch2, *2 sc into the very first st below, 1 sc into the next stitch*. Repeat from *to* until the end of the round (18 sts).

round 3 : ch2, *2 sc into the very first st below, 1 sc into the next 2 sts*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round (24 sts)

round 4 : ch2, *2 sc into the very first st below, 1 sc into the next 3 sts*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round (30 sts)

round 5 : ch2, *2 sc into the very first st below, 1 sc into the next 4 sts*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round (36 sts)

round 6 : ch2, *2 sc into the very first st below, 1 sc into the next 5 sts*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round (42 sts)

round 7 : ch2, *2 sc into the very first st below, 1 sc into the next 6 sts*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round (48 sts)

To begin the edge we are going to ch2 and then make 1 sc into the very next stitch below. Now point your hook into the next stitch of the previous round and make another single crochet.

Repeat until the end of the round, then slip stitch into the second chain we made at the beginning.

For round 2, chain 2, then point your hook into the very next stitch of your previous round and make 1 sc, then point your hook into your last round and make 1sc into the next stitch below. Repeat until the end of the round and until you have 4 rounds in total.

To attach the cover on my stool, I cut 4 strands of t-shirt yarn of about 50cm each. I folded them in half and inserted them into 4 stitches of the very last edging round.

Here is a close up of how I simply inserted the strands under the last round stitches.

I am so proud of how this project came out.¬† Now, I can’t wait for the evening to come and sit on my sofa, watching a movie and relaxing my legs on the stool I created myself. I am actually so jealous of it that I don’t share it with anybody not even with Valerio!! It is a super easy and quick project to make, also perfect for summer considering¬† it uses T-shirt yarn. I hope you too like this pattern, I can’t wait to see your own version and in the meantime I wish you happy summer time and happy crochet!! Byeee
