Stripes & cape…

When I first took a crochet hook into my hands, my dream was being able to create my own pieces of fashion. Even if at the beginning, when all I was able to make were flowers and doilies, this sounded like a quite ambitious project, I didn’t loose my hopes. Little by little, trying and failing, I became more aware of patterns, crocheting techniques, I understood the process of counting, increasing, reducing  and that brought me to today when I am so proud to show you the last arrival into my handmade collection.

cape1

This beautiful cape is a combination of all my favourite fashion trends ever. The turtleneck is so comfortable, elegant and keeps you warm without wearing any other layers.

The cape has always been one of my favorite accessory. I consider it the final touch to any outfits. You can wear it on a coat during the winter colder days or it looks gorgeous on a shirt during those springy days when you can feel the air getting warmer, but it is still too soon to go out without any layer on.

My last but not least favorite is the pattern..stripes never go out of fashion! You will notice they have been making their appearance on the fashion runaways since forever. Wheter they are horizontal or vertical, they always add such an energetic feeling to any items.

cape5To make my cape I mixed 3 different colors to create kind of a melange effect. I started with a light black to make the collar and the part approaching the shoulder. I continued with a pale brown, then I added white for a bit of brightness and I ended with brown again. I love how this combination came out!!!

yarn

Don’t you think it's funny that this yarn is branded RELAX ? smiley Anyway I have used it in the following amount :

2 balls of black yarn;

2 balls of brown yarn;

1 ball of white yarn

My trusty 6 mm hook helped me in the adventure. Now take yours and get ready to follow this easy pattern.

Between a picture and another, Valerio and I just stopped in a farm in the countryside and had lunch. This kind of places are called ‘osmiza’ which is a Slovenian word that means eight. Eight are in fact the days these farms can be open and sell their products to the customers. The food was amazing, everything was homemade, we had hardboiled eggs, cheese, meat, ham, cakes and last but not least red wine!

osmizaWe had such an amazing time there, we ate on the porch with a timid warming sun that made the atmosphere around so peaceful and relaxing. There were children playing, guys enjoying their time lying on the lawn, playing cards or other traditional games and a lot of people laughing because of too much wine!! Ahahahah I was totally amazed, so if you ever have the chance to visit the nord-est of Italy, be sure to check these places. It can be a nice way to spend some time far from the city chaos and enjoy nature and its products.

osmizaa3I hope you guys liked this pattern and all this blog post in general. I thought it would be nice to share with you not only my passion for crafts and crochet, but also for life and everything that makes me feel happy and good. I send you an enormous hug and wish you an amazing time with your beloved and..your crochet..see you to the next post, bye heart
