Baby hat and matching mittens…

Could you think of a better way to enter the new year than the arrival of a little, soft, pink bundle? At the beginning of the month, my cousin gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Aurora, adding a new branch to our family tree. My gift for her was the project I am going to share with you today, a cute baby hat with matching mittens. Aren’t they simply adorable?

fotoIIf you give a look around you can certainly notice that pink in all its shades is my favorite color and when I saw this light pink yarn I couldn’t help thinking about anything more delicate and perfect for a newborn lady. One ball was enough for both the hat and the mittens and since I had some white yarn left, I used it to make a flower to embellish the hat. Here is the pattern I made up for these projects, it is in the size 0-3 months and to make it easier I also took some row-by-row photos. Well, what more…let’s begin !

What you’ll need :

  • 100 gr of yarn in the color you prefer
  • 3.0 mm crochet hook
  • small amount of white yarn
  • yarn needle
  • scissors

Stitches used :

  • slip stitch (sl st)
  • single crochet (sc)
  • half double crochet (hdc)
  • double crochet (dc)

HAT

Here is the link to her free video tutorial, she is amazing and her explanation clear and simple, I hope you will enjoy it as I did.foto3MITTENS

Now fasten off your yarn leaving a long tale and with a yarn needle close the top of your mitten. foto7I hope you guys like these patterns. I enjoyed them a lot and more because they were made in a baby size and we know, when it comes to babies everything is cuter and nicer and more exciting!!! I will be very pleased if you want to share with me your works and let me know if you want me to blog about 'my general rules' on sizing the crochet hats…I love you all and see you to the next post, bye XX
